1Game Basics

A side-scrolling platformer where you run, jump, and grow with power-ups to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser.

2Core Gameplay

Touch a mushroom to grow, a fire flower to throw fireballs, and a star for temporary invincibility. Falling in a pit or taking a hit while big returns you to small — a second hit ends the life. Coins grant extra lives at 100.

3Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1. Warp to skip ahead: In 1-2, break the blocks near the end, drop down the pipe, and take the hidden Warp Zone to World 2, 3 or 4.
2. 4-2 warp: use the vine at the end to reach the Warp Zone to Worlds 6, 7 or 8.
3. World 8-4 maze: at the first intersection go down the leftmost pipe, then always take the pipe that leads upward until you reach Bowser's bridge.
4. Bowser: jump the axe at the end, or hit him with fireballs; avoid the fake Bowsers (they are Goombas/Koopas in disguise — throwing fire reveals them).

4Hidden Secrets & Easter Eggs

World 3-1 hides a 'cloud stairs' trick: step on the right turtle shell at the staircase to ride it upward for extra 1-UPs. The Warp Zones themselves are the biggest secret — many first-time players never see them.

5Cheats & Codes

There are no built-in cheat codes; the Warp Pipes are the real shortcut. (The famous Konami code belongs to a different game.) On emulators, save states replace the need for codes entirely.
